SPC Live @ The Reunion Room 1989

A rare live recording has been unearthed by brother Rick Myers. It is Some People's Children LIVE from Reunion Room, circa 1989. Based on the setlist, this is the September date as some newer songs (some totally faded from memory!) were included in this set. Takes a song or so to get dialed in, but the mix is straight from the console. Originally mixed and now restored by RDM. Not the best set ever, but it is a treasure of memories for sure.

Special note that legendary Reunion Room DJ Tim Gallagher can bet heard doing his stock band intro and outro. Enjoy!

"THIS IS A TEST!" Now Available on iTunes

"THIS SI A TEST!", the debut EP by Some People's Children that should have been released back in 1989 but never was, is now available for purchase on iTunes.

Definitively post-New Wave progressive, SPC drew from influences as varied as Thomas Dolby, Mike Oldfield, Peter Gabriel and Depeche Mode to create a unique sound that could only have come from South Florida in the 1980s.

1980s Band Some People's Children Releases Debut EP That Never Was

Some People's Children, 1989
Once upon a time, there was a band quite unlike any of the others.

THIS IS A TEST!
is the 1989 debut album from SOME PEOPLE'S CHILDREN that was never released, but should have been.

It was one of those weird moments in the creative process where an idea pops into your head and you have the best resources at hand to deliver it perfectly.

We were in the middle of taking the groove Tip had called "Andes Dust" and trying to make it in to an actual song. Things were going smoothly, as smoothly as possible with 4 guys and a room full of synths and drum machines in the '80s can be. Oh, there were the usual battles of tone and pallet, which patch should be used here, what percussion sound there.

UNISEX Tee's Start at $20!
SHOW DATE: April 26, 1989
VENUE: Reunion Room, Ft. Lauderdale,FL

You were probably there. Or you should have been. It was breathtaking. So much hair product. Such strange dancing. Zebra murals. That strange little barback. And we can still hear the DJ's voice:

"Lets put your hands together for Some People's Children..."

Taken from an original flyer designed by Rick Myers you probably threw away. But this time you can keep it a while.

AVAILABLE NOW: Summers On The Beach "First Show" T-Shirt

UNISEX Tee's start at $20
SHOW DATE: April 18, 1989
VENUE: Summers On The Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, FL

You can smell the place. Salt, sweat, alcohol and pheromones. What a crazy place to load in with all these synths and gear and a Mac that was freaking out and having an off-tempo meltdown. An inauspicious beginning to the adventure.

But the original Rick Myers-designed flyer makes for a classic t-shirt. Also features two bands we have no idea what happened to, BOOTLEG and THE BASICS.
